NYPL has one of the largest image collections in the world. The collection was started in 1915. Material before 1923 has been digitized, along with special items like the Warhol holiday card and a letter from Diego Rivera. Yet Mayor Bloomberg is proposing a cut of $96.4 Million Dollars to NYC Libraries. Collections like these cannot grow and be maintained if public funding for them is under constant threat every year.
